Jumbo and unions still reach agreement on collective agreements – NU.nl

Recently, the top of the company took another setback earlier collective agreements. A negotiator from the supermarket chain was rebuffed by the board of Jumbo.

Then, the unions threatened actions during the busy Easter period. But on Tuesday, the parties were able to agree to it anyway.

The approximately three thousand employees covered by the collective agreement, a raise of 1.75 percent. Further, no longer receive a 22-year-old youth wage workers, but they are just as rewarding as adults. Director Kitty Huntjens CNV Professionals calls this “a small step in the right direction” for young people.

Furthermore, 61-year-old employees redeem all free time for money. “Working in the distribution is more physically demanding than the average job. With this agreement, we ensure that the most healthy way to continue working until retirement,” says director Henk van der Ploeg FNV trade.

the collective agreement will take effect from april 1 and is valid for one year.

The unions recognize that wages at Jumbo is above the average in the sector. The unions believe that undesirable, because they want a similar wages for similar work. Also Jumbo is not happy with that situation, because the company that is less competitive with other supermarket chains.

In the coming months the parties will compare the wage and salary levels of Jumbo in a study with those of other companies . The results of this research will be discussed early next year with new collective bargaining.

“The unions and hereby Jumbo pursuit of sustainable wage development that is good for the employees and for Jumbo,” said FNV.

Actions

in late February, workers at distribution centers in Beilen, Breda, Arnhem, Raalte, Veghel and Woerden campaigned. Then the unions presented an ultimatum.

“The threat of action which showed that the distribution center worker was in earnest, led according to the unions to still perpetuate the collective agreement.”
