House wants that SNS remains a state bank – NU.nl

According to Labour MP Henk Nijboer and SP Euro-MP Arnold Merkies want a very large part of the population that there will be a state bank.

They argue that a state bank fulfills an important social need and contributes to the stability of the financial system. The bank may set a positive example for other banks.

“The SNS Bank should at least not to the show ” says Nijboer. He wants SNS Bank should remain a true utility banking” without frolicking “but with simple products aimed at the consumer.

It is important that manages the bank savings tidy and offers decent conditions for mortgages, and does less to profit as an investment bank, said the PvdA.

Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem (Finance) made last week obvious he banking in principle is a task for the private sector. the government has yet to take a decision on the privatization of SNS Bank and wait for advice.
