Tourism, our country has brought more money in recent years. This is partly due to foreign tourists. The contribution of the tourism sector to the gross domestic product, the total income of all Dutch, grew from 3.2 percent in 2010 to 3.6 percent last year, according to CBS figures published Friday.
The amount that tourists spend increased over the past three years, more than 9 percent to 65 billion euros. This is mainly because the prices in that period increased by 6 percent, because more foreign tourists came to the Netherlands. That there were 12.8 million last year, 5 percent more than the year before. They provided more bookings at Dutch companies, such as online bookings of air travel and hotels.
In the tourism sector, many part-time work. Converted to full-time jobs, the sector last year accounted for 357,000 jobs. That is 20,000 more than in 2010, creates within the hospitality industry for most jobs. Other goods and services such as land transport and retail account for one quarter of all jobs in the tourism sector. In addition, activities in the arts and culture sector, sport, leisure and gambling business contribute to the tourism employment (about 22 percent). The airline and travel agent arrange for 6 percent.
