The French government wants to end the strike by Air France, where a large part of the pilots for almost a week not to work is gone. Secretary of State Alain Vida Lies (Transport) called the aviators today at the radio station France Info for a compromise.

The pilots have serious objections against new austerity plans of Air France-KLM. The Franco-Dutch airline group wants to expand cost airline Transavia in the coming years while heavily loss-making activities, such as domestic and European flights by Air France, continue to be remediated.

According to Vida Lies is high time for a “positive step” by the staff, who is afraid

stripped of employment. “Cheaper flying is not an option but a must, that’s the reality,” said the minister. “I think the pilots are fully aware of it.”

yesterday decided the unions actions, initially for the period 15 to 22 September were announced, with at least 4 days to renew. The strike cost Air France estimated that between 15 and 20 million per day.

Tomorrow Air France expects about 41 percent of flights to run, compared to 38 percent on Sunday normally. In addition, the company assumes that again about two out of three drivers do not appear to work.
