Through an acquisition is the largest chain of pharmacies in the Netherlands in the making . Brocacef bought for an undisclosed amount pharmacies Mediq which creates a chain of 335 pharmacies with a turnover of 2.1 billion euros.
The number is even higher if the pharmacies are counted which are partly owned by the operator via a franchise. The combination employs 5,300 workers.
The pharmacies will be called Benu. The competition authorities have yet to approve the takeover. Mediq is now the market leader and was taken two years ago by a US investor in the stock market.
