The company has opened a voluntary redundancy scheme, reports the AD .
Office staff can voluntarily leave with a salary of over 75,000 euros per year with a view to compensation. Of the 10,000 employees of Shell in Amsterdam and Rijswijk have 15 to 20 percent leave. This is due to the significant cuts at Shell. The oil and gas company is struggling with large deficits because of low oil prices.
Trade union FNV says to the AD that Shell wants to avoid a restructuring through the voluntary severance scheme. “Shell will first consider whether enough employees volunteer,” says director Egbert Schellenberg of the FNV.
The Shell staff can register until July 1 for voluntary departure scheme.
