Heineken is growing fast in Asia – Financieele Dagblad

Heineken in the first quarter, 11% more beer produced in a year ago period. The growth was mainly in Asia, Brazil and Mexico. The Amsterdam brewer could well take advantage of the New Year celebrations in China and Vietnam. The fact that Easter fell early this year, propelled the beer sales in the first quarter. The brewer reported an interim marketing message.

Heineken Heineken NV 85.64 + 2.98% 2.48 + a net profit of € 265 million in the first quarter, compared with € 579 million a year ago period. But then there was a one-time windfall of € 379 million, reflecting the sale of Empaque.

Volume growth

Heineken did in all regions where the brewer operates to increase the volumes. Organic growth for the entire group amounted to 7%. In Asia Pacific, organic growth amounted to 23% and in the Americas region by 8.2%. In Europe, growth was 2.3%.

Especially in Vietnam, Indonesia and Cambodia Heineken managed to grow fast. It is no coincidence that Heineken holds its annual meeting for analysts and investors next month to Vietnamese Ho Chi Minh City. The brewer speaks of “sustained momentum for the brand Tiger” in Vietnam.

Premium Beers

In the market for so-called premium, where consumers pay relatively more for Heineken managed to grow by 7.0%. Organic growth was 4.8%. Heineken did in all regions except Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe to produce more premium beer.
