Albert Heijn has been named the greatest ‘talker’ because of some excuse about his guacamole dip. It contained no real avocado but only 0.7 percent avocado powder. The supermarket chain had defended himself by saying that it is not really going to guacamole but a dip. Albert Heijn win it the first Klets Major Award, as did the Consumers known Thursday.
Albert Heijn came up with the nonsense to come after the grocer was nominated for the ‘Wall of Shame’ by the union. More than seven thousand consumers found it the worst excuse in the election. The product has been removed from the shelves.
Healthy People came second with nonsense talk about juice of blueberries and raspberries, which actually consists largely of grape juice. After the product was nominated manufacturer announced the grape juice to add “because it is an excellent flavor carrier. The excuse of natural ingredients Rivella came third.
Klets Major Award is part of the campaign Klets Pictures that the Consumer wants to products with misleading names, unjustified claims on packaging and other ‘faint’ marketing ploys an end manufacturers.
More than eighteen thousand people cast their votes. More than half of the manufacturers who was nominated product has modified or withdrawn from the market.
The campaign stops, but the battle is not over yet, says Consumer Director Bart Combée in a statement. “ It seems sometimes mopping with the tap. We are also in talks with the Ministry of Health on improving the rules and their enforcement by the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority. ”
