The mood among consumers has deteriorated in August, the first decline in more than a year. This was reported by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) Wednesday. This is mainly due to the uncertainty about developments in Russia, Ukraine and the Middle East

The indicator of the CBS decreased by 4 points and stood at -6. That means there are 6 percent more pessimists than optimists. Consumers are a lot less positive about future economic developments. This is according to the statistics office possible with tense international political situation. According to CBS economist Peter Hein van Mulligen consumer confidence fell for the last time in July last year.
Consumer confidence is with -6 still above the average of the past 20 years (-8). Confidence in April 2000 reached the highest level ever (27). The low point was reached in February 2013 (-44).
Developments in Russia
