Dozens of employees by Shell Moerdijk sent home after traces of drugs were found in their urine.
De recent weeks, Shell drug dogs deployed to the people who work at the monitor chemical complex at Moerdijk. When the dogs started barking, a urine test was taken.
So it happened that late last month 38 workers at Shell Moerdijk by the wayside fell. Of these “scares” people rather Shell, according to internal e-mails owned by the FD. Shortly before that, after all, held an initial drug control, with 31 male staff were found positive.
Explosion
Shell decided to preventive drug testing, because of the huge crowds on the ground, said an official response from the oil and gas.
Last year there was an explosion at Shell Moerdijk, which caused some damage to installations. To repair them, run there are currently about 3,700 people around. Normally no 1200 men staff is still working in the chemical complex, which may be considered as one of the largest in Europe.
Implications
Much of that additional manpower has been hired by Shell. Of all drug use caught on salaried employees of subcontractors or Shell itself, could not indicate a spokesman for the group. However, he could confirm that there “have been positive results” and that “there staff consequences are applicable.
In an internal E-mail is certain that Shell will discuss with the management of the contractors involved how they will improve this performance. “
The checks were only “drugs,” the Shell spokesman. Alcohol has not been tested.
