Doctors Federation Royal Dutch Medical Association warns of the risks of preventive medical examinations. The doctors federation wants patients to be aware of the disadvantages of body scans now doctors are increasingly anxious patients at their clinic.
Today, a brochure that warns patients of the benefits and risks of preventive medical examinations. According to the Royal Dutch Medical Association brochure is needed because body scans often yield a faint rash which patients wrongly fear. In many cases it turns out follow-up research that there is nothing to worry about.
In an interview with the AD let Niek de Wit, physician and professor of family medicine, that he opposes preventive medical scans:
“Scans are good are you suspect a particular disease, but not if you’re in a hurry. Any deviation is suspicious. “
According to De Wit can correct further research be dangerous after a previous body scan as there is a risk of overtreatment.
