Bevrijdingsfestivals suffer from severe thunderstorms – NU.nl

In Assen and Almere were both festivals set to start at 12:00. It now happened a few hours later.

Liberation in Assen started at 16:30. The festival site was vacated earlier reports RTV Drenthe . From Drenthe came reports about violent thunderstorm with hail as big as ping-pong balls.

The Liberation Festival in Almere on the Esplanade, next to open water, going five hours later (19:00) than planned because of the expected wind gusts. Throughout the afternoon, including Partysquad and Handsome Poets, has lapsed. The evening performances by Caro Emerald, Kensington and Trijntje Oosterhuis do go on.

At Haarlem was the liberation around 14.00 temporarily closed. “Every half hour we assess the situation,” the organization reported on the website. The program is restarted again at 15:15

Code yellow

Injured

Roermond is a woman injured during a liberation. She was around 13.00 on the Kloosterwandplein hit by a roof of a stall, which was going to fly because of the wind. The woman was brought to a head injury by ambulance to the hospital.

Mayor Rianne Donders of Roermond left just before 13:30 that the festival is temporarily shut down.

In Amsterdam decided temporary “Bridge over the River IJ” not build because of the weather. During the planned walk between 14.00 and 16.00 hours, high winds and heavy rain are expected. According to AT5 wants the municipal transport the bridge construction next year.



Defilé Wageningen

The annual bevrijdingsdefilé in Wageningen started half an hour later than planned. Around 16:15 the procession began. took 1,200 veterans at the parade in Wageningen , and several hundred soldiers serving active part . Princess Margriet and Pieter van Vollenhoven were among the spectators.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte Tuesday officially celebrate Liberation Day launched by the igniting the liberation. He did so after the 5 May reading of the Israeli writer David Grossman in Flushing.
