The Netherlands is not at war with extremists and does not conflict with Islam. Prime Minister Mark Rutte said Sunday current affairs program. “We are in conflict with extremists who use their faith as justification for attacks,” said the Prime Minister.
Rutte said he was a term like “war” will never use here. PVV leader Geert Wilders had Wednesday soon after the massacre at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris twittered that we are at war.
Rutte refused to also join in a call earlier this week by former VVD -Kamerlid Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who argued that there is more criticism of Islam and the Koran is needed. Rutte just wanted the “finding of fact” to make that within Islam is less room for criticism.
