Christmas Sales supermarkets declined despite extended opening hours – NU.nl

According to figures that market research company GfK published Friday.

GfK had for the last two weeks of December, average weekly sales forecast of 735 million euros, 0.8 percent more than would have been in 2013. The average weekly sales, however, continued stabbing at 724 million euros.

On the Christmas knew myself more people find their way to the supermarket. On Christmas day, 1.7 percent of households visited a supermarket and on Boxing Day 4.4 percent. A year earlier, it was still 1.2 and 4.1 percent, respectively.

Over the whole of December, sales of supermarkets with 0.1 percent annual rate decreased to 2.71 billion euros. Sales over 2014 amounted to 33.3 billion euros, which also represents a decrease of 0.1 percent
