Profit energy giant RWE evaporates – NOS

The profit of the German energy giant RWE is in the first nine months of this year, with more than 99 percent. The energy company, which has two coal and two fired gas plants in the Netherlands, posted a paltry gain of 11 million euro. Last year was 1.9 billion.

The power company has suffered from historically low stroomprijzen. The margins of the coal – fired gas plants of RWE are paper-thin and much-fired gas plants are therefore partly or even completely silent.

sales decreased by 5 percent to 33.2 billion euros. The debts of the company over the past nine months only but further increased, the counter is now at 27.4 billion euros.

The coal – fired gas plants are according to financial executive Krebber indispensable. “RWE makes an important contribution to the continuity of the energy supply,” says Krebber.

This summer, said ceo Terium against the NOS that there is a very large problem arises when the price of power from coal-fired power stations is still dropping. At even lower prices is not more profitable to the coal-fired power plants to run, he warned. “And that power plants do we need, otherwise the light goes out in Germany.”
