Will there be an end to the very low mortgage interest rates? The Rabobank with effect from Monday, the interest rate on all mortgages with a term of 8 years and longer increased by 0.1 per cent. Hypotheekdochter Obvion already did in mortgages with a maturity of 5 years.
The rate hike is the result of the price of money on the capital markets. The interest rate for ten-year loans has increased as a result of growing unrest and uncertainty in the world economy and politics. The brexit, the U.s. presidential election and the policies of central banks play a role.
The rentemarkt move forward on the plans of the Fed, the American central bank, the official interest rate in the US. Also the expectation that the ECB, the European Central Bank, next year the huge opkoopprogramma afbouwt, puts pressure on the interest rate.
It is not said that the era of the very low mortgage rates is over. Maybe for long-term loans, but for short-term loans not yet, and before that roams there still to much money around in the market.
over The past three years, the interest only but, as a result of the weak economy, the low demand for credit, the plenty of running geldpersen and the zero percent interest rate of the ECB. No sooner was money for a mortgage loan so cheap. For a ten-year mortgage, you pay now, sometimes less than 1.5 percent.
the Dutch treasury benefits from the low interest rates for the financing and refinancing of the public debt. For short-term debt get the state money even if a loan is issued. The interest expenses were in 2015, therefore, almost three billion euro lower than in 2012, while the public debt is larger.
