More than four hundred discharged by bankruptcy Flinter Group – NU.nl

The company asked a month ago, postponement of payment as a result of the continuing slump in the shipping industry, leaving many ships for years with loss run.

At the headquarters of Flinter employs approximately 65 people. The company has no seafarers in the fixed service. On the 35 ships to work again, about 350 people from different countries.

ING refused recently the funding for nine of the ships of Flinter to extend and demanded that they be sold. Flinter came more than a year ago in the news when the cargo ship Flinterstar off the coast of Zeebrugge sank after a collision with a gastanker.

According to director Marcel van Dam FNV Nautilus was the bankruptcy-all. “We had all the signs of a relaunch for the holding difficult. A number of the ships would be possible under other management”.

The shipbuilding and shipping are already for a longer time in heavy weather. The union is also in talks with shipping company Abis, of which ABN Amro recently several vessels on the chain for the olympics due to financing problems. “That would be the following.
