Consumers are buying fewer new cars – NU.nl

That equates to a decline of 5 percent, reports the Central Bureau for Statistics (CBS) on Saturday.

In the third quarter was the number of sold new cars at 91.000. A year earlier this was still nearly a hundred thousand. It comes to a decline of 8 percent.

The CBS emphasizes that new cars but account for a small part of the total car sales. Until september of this year over 1.7 million cars sold. Almost 1.5 million of them were second-hand.

In the third quarter, consumers 473.000 second-hand cars purchased. An increase of 5 percent compared to a year earlier.
