The AEX index in Amsterdam was just after announcement of the interest rate decision 3.2 percent higher at 449.25 points. The MidKap rose 1.4 percent, the indexes in Paris and Frankfurt were up 3.3 percent.
The gains, however, were quite back after ECB president Draghi dampened the euphoria by saying that interest rates will probably not be reduced further in a note.
The Amsterdam AEX index finally ended 1.2 percent in minus at 430.18 points. The MidKap dropped 1.3 percent to 655.07 points. The indicators in Paris, London and Frankfurt yielded 1.7 to 2.3 percent.
Euro
The euro Thursday initially value against the dollar, but also that proved short-lived. The euro closed the European trading day at $ 1.1185. That was significantly higher than the low of $ 1.0822 reached just after the interest rate decision. At the close of European stock markets on Wednesday, the euro dollar was worth 1.1020.
Interest Decision
