This says ABN Amro in a report published Wednesday. The total coffee production worldwide is 3.5 percent lower than a year ago, but above expectations for early this year.
With an expected global consumption of 149 million bags ABN Amro expects a shortfall in supply. The decline in coffee prices this seems to have stalled, says the bank.
The economic office of the bank thinks that supply and demand in the next few months will determine the price trend. Sugar production is expected to remain at a high level. ABN Amro expects coffee and cocoa that production can keep up with demand or no, and that the downward trend thus comes to an end
