Pilot with partly self-propelled cars passed on A2 – NU.nl

” It went very well, there have been no lumps, ‘says Stijn Otten, director of innovation at leasing company Business Lease, after the test.

The cars drove in trains of six between other traffic, to see how that goes. The cars determine their speed and distance to the vehicle. These techniques have long been used in cars that are already on sale, but it has never been tested on this scale.

There are tested semi-self-propelled vehicles of the brands BMW, Hyundai, Mercedes , Tesla, Toyota and Volvo are using.

” Personally, I drove a Tesla and I did not need to intervene. I did it send to touch two times and not because of the technology, but because it still has under the law, ” said Otten.

If another motorist squeezes in the peloton, braking cars find themselves off so that they have enough distance. If the ‘breaker’ is gone, the platoon net recovers naturally
