“Greeks ask 24 billion in August – De Gelderlander

ATHENS (Reuters) – Greece asks for an initial payment of emergency support about 24 billion euros. This will strengthen it even include banks in August and pay off debts to the European Central Bank (ECB). Which reported the Greek newspaper Avgi Sunday.

Athens is currently conducting talks with the European Commission and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on a package of financial support totaling 86 billion euros. The Greek government believes that the talks before mid to finish this month, after which the amount in different parts can be released.

The first installment would be used among others as Avgi for recapitalising banks (10 billion) and repay a bridge loan (more than 7 billion). For interest rates on Greek government bonds held by the ECB is more than 3 billion euros available.
