Press group parent company may acquire Wegener – NU.nl

This reports the ACM Wednesday.

Mecom is the parent company of Wegener that issues especially regional newspapers. The company has, among other De Gelderlander , The Stentor and Brabants Dagblad in possession. De Persgroep publisher of Algemeen Dagblad , De Volkskrant , True and Het Parool .

The only concern of the Competition Authority was the delivery of newspapers. The publisher arising after the acquisition, will soon deliver two thirds of the Netherlands newspapers. This other publishers of newspapers are too dependent on Mecom / De Persgroep.



Distribution

The Persgroep has offered to continue the current arrangements with the distribution of Telegraaf Media Group for the delivery of each other’s newspapers. Benefit too that newspaper publishers do not own delivery network, such as NRC Media. These agreements apply at least for a period of ten years.

According to the ACM is the distribution of newspapers guaranteed reasonable terms in this way.

Belgian
