On average, consumers pay 21.89 euros per visit to the supermarket. Compared to July last year, a drop of 1.5 percent, but the number of supermarket visits, however, increased by 2 percent.

According to GfK, it has now become customary to do on Sunday shopping. Over two thirds of Dutch households regularly goes to the supermarket on the traditional day of rest, which makes for a turnover of 1.3 billion euros.

Young people use the Sunday opening, while pensioners rather on other days get their groceries. Also differs enthusiasm by region. Consumers in the north and east less often go on Sunday to the super than people in the Randstad.

Friday and Saturday remain the most popular days for shopping. Almost half of all groceries bought on these two days. Partly due to the increase in supermarkets also open on Sunday, this number is decreasing
