Confidence in the eurozone economy this month increased significantly. According to figures by the European Commission published today

The index that measures the commission confidence rose in March from 102.3 to 103.9. A position higher than 100 indicates that confidence is higher than the long term average. The increase in this month is due largely to consumers, who were more optimistic about the economy than in February. In addition, improved the mood among retailers, service providers and entrepreneurs in the building industry.
Especially in Italy, Germany and Spain took the optimism significantly. The confidence of Italian entrepreneurs rose to the highest level in seven years. In Germany drew confidence after several volatile months to the highest level since last summer.
In the Netherlands, confidence grew, especially among consumers. CBS recently reported that all the optimists among Dutch consumers for the first time since the summer of 2007, again in the majority.
